There are several circumstances that can leave a coach in need of cheer music quickly. Sometimes, coaches switch programs and take the music with them, leaving the new coach with no music. Other times, an athlete on the team takes on the music task, but the coach does not like the end product. In the custom music world, the most common issue we hear from clients goes something like this:
“Help! My current music person has not delivered my mix on time, and he/she is not responding to my emails! We compete in a week!!”

Recently, a gym contacted us stating their current music producer, already two months overdue with their music, was pushing their due date back by an additional month. The team’s patience had run out, and they turned to us for help. Because they had already ordered music, they had 8count sheets and videos ready to go. The files were sent to us, and one of our producers started on the project the following day. The voiceovers rolled into our daily voice worksheet for our full-time vocal artist, and the rest was clockwork. The team had a cheer mix within the same week that they ordered music. Shortly after, the gym ordered 4 additional “Champion” mix packages and received all 4 mixes within 2 weeks.

Cheerleading Music Production Booth Upgrade
Towards the end of our construction for our new office, I decided I wanted at least one of the booths to have that insanely awesome, “only in the magazines” look to it. Sure, it’s superficial, but it also sets a great mood in the room for creating music, and music is all about mood. That makes sense, right? 😀
Joking aside, the pictured room is 7′ wide by 8.5′ deep (picture taken from just behind the middle), which seems small at first but it is not when you realize you are just sitting in a chair in there. The floor, walls and ceiling cost about $8,000. It’s ultra silent and has no reverberations. This may seem unsettling to someone not used to it, but it’s great for critical listening, which is key for our soundalike productions. To break the absolute silence, turn on the 3 ventilation units which keep it nice and cool but add a dull hum. There seems to be a phasing issue around 160hz which I will have to address – possibly only with an ARC2 system – due to the square-ness of the walls of the booth. However, the treated corners seem to be responding very well. All in all, for soundalike production and cheerleading music, the booth seems to be working great. And it looks fantastic!!
There is another booth with a smaller recording set up, used for mixing cheer mixes. However, it does not have the pretty lights…YET!
Surprise: Two New Things Coming Your Way!
We’re not a very secretive group of people, but we have two awesome projects coming your way that we are keeping a surprise. One of them is honestly the only one of its kind in the world, and it might have something to do with what Carmine’s shirt says. The other is something you probably wouldn’t have guessed about CheerSounds, but we’re tackling it with the same professionalism, quality and customer service that we dominated cheer music with, and most of you will find it incredibly helpful!

Colombia Is In The House!
A few days ago, I received a phone call from Jalker Effer from Bogota Cheer Athletics. He traveled from Colombia to USA for Worlds, and made a special detour up to NY to see us. This was a very pleasant surprise!
We only get to meet with Jalker once a year at Worlds when he comes to the States. We first met in 2012 and his team, Elite, impressed us very much with their skills, attitude and enthusiasm. CheerSounds created music for BCA in 2012 and Jalker introduced our style of music to the rest of Colombia. This year, we have created music for three Colombian Worlds teams: BCA, Fox and Titanes, which all share the same common thread of “attitude matters most”. These teams are motivated times 10, and they have fun while working their tails off! Practice looks like a party – with discipline! It is inspiring in a culturally-different way than we are used to seeing.
Interestingly enough, these three Colombian teams allowed Jalker to participate in the creation of their team’s music. I have never seen competing teams contribute to one another’s music in USA, and I think it is an awesome demonstration of the bonding across competitors to represent their country with Pride. We are honored to create music for Colombia and we wish them much luck at Worlds!!

SJSU Wins USA Collegiate 2014!
Congratulations to SJSU’s Champion win at USA Collegiate! We are all very excited to have worked with you this year, and we look forward to many more years of watching you win! We had a great feeling about this team when we saw their practice run-through video. Working with the coach was an awesome pleasure; the team is very humble and did not want to be boastful, though we still managed to work their skill into their mix’s vocals.
SJSU’s mix is a CheerSounds “Champion Mix” package, which features loads of raps and voiceovers. Their mix was also made to a video of their routine, which makes an immense difference in how well the music fits the visuals. Judges noticed!
